You want something sweet and delicious.
But it’s 6 o’clock in the evening on a Wednesday night and you live in Beaverton. It’s not worth it to go all the way over to Portland’s east side, the northwest, or downtown.
Besides, what you’d really like is Delectable’s edible cookie dough—specifically, the chocolate chip cookie dough—and you can’t get that downtown. Delectable Baked Goods is your new favorite bakery and you’re kind of obsessed. You’d really rather not place an order for edible cookie dough and then wait weeks to get it, ever again, if you can avoid it.
Imagine dropping in to pick up your favorite sweet treat from Delectable Baked Goods.
No pre-ordering required to grab a cookie or a pastry or a jar of the tastiest edible cookie dough you’ve ever had. You simply walk into Delectable Baked Goods, get what you’d like, and enjoy it on the spot.
You can help make this a reality.
Be part of Delectable’s success and reap the rewards.
At Delectable Baked Goods, we don’t just bake. We create. From our Signature Cake selection to cinnamon rolls on a Saturday mornings, all our desserts are based on vintage recipes, tried and true. You know the recipes we’re talking about—messy, handwritten index cards that were the foundation of every delicious treat you ever enjoyed at Grandma’s house.
The perfect snickerdoodle…
That cake that’s more delicious than any other cake you’ve ever eaten anywhere else…
We take those recipes, add our high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients, and combine them with a dash of modern flair—ganache drips, edible glitter, local edible flowers—to provide you with an experience that’s both familiar and excitingly new.
This is our plan for our flagship location in Beaverton. But we won’t be able to pull it off without your help.
How can you make sure this happens?
In November, we officially secured our new home, located on First and Hall in Beaverton. We have applied for and received notice of a grant from the City of Beaverton to aid in construction. We will also be investing our personal savings into the project.
But, there’s still a gap we need to fill.
So, we have taken some of our most popular items and created a pre-order campaign to raise the money we need to finish construction.
All you have to do is pre-order your favorite item below by purchasing it.
You can redeem your order any time in 2018.
But don’t wait to purchase the item you really have your heart set on! Quantities are limited on each item, so if you see something that you love, add it to your cart and purchase before we sell out.
If every person who follows Delectable Baked Goods on social media makes a $5.00 purchase, we will surpass our goal. So will you be it? Will you stand with us to bring show-stopping, delicious treats to Beaverton?
Standing at the helm is Melanie Lazar.
I’m Melanie, and this flagship store has been in the works for over 17 years, even though I didn’t know it for most of that time. What do I mean by that?
Over 17 years ago, I was 1500 miles from home. I was a college student, living as most college students live—frugally. I was far from home, as was everyone else around me. I heard my friends wishing for home-cooked meals. They were craving something familiar and comforting in the midst of all the newness. While I couldn’t cook, I could bake. And flour and sugar were affordable.
So I made a piece of home for me and them. I began baking, pulling from the recipes I had grown up using as I baked sweets with my grandma and my mom. It reminded me of the tins and baskets full of handmade cookie and chocolate truffles and other goodies we always had around the holidays at home.
The beginning of Delectable.
I started with holiday cookies in lieu of gifts. I baked and presented these cookies to my friends, and they each had a taste of home. It wasn’t long before more cookies were requested. Soon, others started asking if I could make cookies for them as well. Eventually, I had people telling me in June what their request for their favorite holiday cookies.
During my college years, what started as a way to reconnect with home and connect with others bloomed into something else entirely. I tested hundreds of recipes, focusing on each one until it I had perfected it. I worked on perfecting my baked goods for 10 years.
And in 2011, I opened Delectable Baked Goods in Pasadena, California. This is when I learned that having the perfect recipes doesn’t automatically make you a good business owner. We struggled.
Eventually, my family and I moved home to the Pacific Northwest. Having learned from our mistakes, we found a small business advisor to help us. Under his guidance, we refined our selection of baked goods and wrote a business plan before relaunching Delectable in 2015. We created a strategy, and we’ve stuck to it.
A new beginning that’s paid off.
The result of all the work we’ve put in is that Delectable Baked Goods is profitable. It started turning a profit within two months of opening! And we’ve grown by leaps and bounds in the last two-and-a-half years.
Our custom cakes and cookies are currently booked 4 to 6 weeks in advance. Responding to order requests is a full-time job in itself. We are in high demand, and the new space will allow us to better meet that demand.
Join us on this crazy journey as we take this leap.
Every penny we receive in pre-orders puts us that much closer to a profitable grand opening. We’re dedicated to opening, investing in our future staff, and providing our customers with the best customer service. Your support will help us do that.
